Becoming a Governor of Bohunt Wokingham is a fantastic way to give something back to the school community – its students, staff, parents and the wider community. Governors have a significant role in the long-term development and improvement of the school and provide strong links with the wider community.
They provide support for the Head of School, teaching and support staff. You would be expected to attend regular meetings and contribute to the behind-the-scenes decision-making and planning. If you are interested in becoming a Governor, please let us know by email.

Karen has worked for the NHS for 27 years as a qualified Nurse and in a variety of leadership and management roles across the health economy the last ten years specialising in Quality and Clinical Governance. She has been a school Governor for the last 7 years at an Infant school in Wokingham which included the role of Chair for the last 3 years.
She has a daughter at Bohunt who started when the school opened in September 2016 and son who stars school in September 2018. Outside of work she is involved in helping at charity events in Wokingham like the annual fireworks display, bikeathon, and wine festival. Spending quality time with Family and friends, travelling and exploring news places, watching football going to the theatre, concerts and nice restaurants are all things Karen enjoys.
Throughout her career, Gill has worked in many diverse educational environments. Her experience includes the headship of a large secondary school and working for Her Majesty’s Inspectorate. She has been an active member of the Governing Body of several schools and looks forward now to supporting Bohunt Wokingham in its determination to establish the school as a centre of excellence. She is inspired by young people and their energy and enthusiasm to exploit the effective and creative use of technology in their daily lives.
Having spent 32 years in the Armed Forces and 3 years as an IT Project Manager, I am now employed as a Cycle Coach, working in schools and running Sprockets Cycle Club in Arborfield. Before becoming a Governor at Bohunt School Wokingham I was a member of the Parent’s Group campaigning for a new Secondary School in South Wokingham and prior to that spent 8 years as a Parent Governor at The Holt School. I am passionate about employment and recreational opportunities for young people in our area and I continue to work and volunteer to support and increase ambition and enjoyment for our youngsters. Apart from this I am a father of 3 who, together with my wife, seem to spend an extraordinary amount of time providing a parental taxi and support service. My youngest child is in the Year 7 intake in September 2018 and is really looking forward to joining Bohunt.
David has been a member of the Armed Forces since 1995. He is an engineer by background and has completed a large variety of leadership and management roles. In recent years he has specialised in policy development and risk management. He has two sons, one of whom was part of the original cohort to start at Bohunt in September 2016, the second will start at the school in September 2018. Wider interests include his Christian faith, adventurous sports, playing music and cookery.
Jane has worked over 20 years in business leading finance teams for a large conglomerate. A Chartered Accountant by profession, she has experience in mergers and acquisitions, pensions, change management, audit and commercial partnering. She is also active at work in championing diversity and corporate social responsibility. Prior to joining the Governing body, Jane was an active member of the local Parents Group who worked towards the creation of a new Secondary School for South Wokingham with her daughter joining the first cohort in 2016 and her son very much looking forward to joining in 2019. Jane is passionate about inclusion and unleashing potential and outside of work she enjoys family time, walking and yoga.
Andrew is the Head of Programme Management for Water at Thames Water, leading large-scale investments in service improvements. He has experience of managing large capital programmes, as well as leading large operational teams, having recently been the Wastewater Treatment Regional Operations Manager for Thames Valley.
Andrew is a STEM Ambassador and is passionate about encouraging children to explore these core subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and regularly supports activities at local primary and secondary schools across Reading and Wokingham.
Andrew is married with two children, who both hope to join Bohunt in the coming years. Having recently moved to Arborfield Green, Andrew is keen to help develop the school in the local community. He has been a Parent Governor at Hawkedon Primary School in Lower Earley for the last two years, and is passionate about ensuring that children have a safe environment for learning, and that they get the best experience possible during their education.
Colin has worked in IT since his teens, with a career that started with IBM working on mission critical accounts to his current employer, UKCloud, who provide national critical infrastructure to the UK Public Sector, focused on Cloud technologies that digitizes services consumed by UK Citizens. He is married, with two grown up children, recently became a grandfather, or ‘Nannu’ as he is unofficially known! He has lived in Wokingham since 2013, having spent his formative years on the south coast. He has a passion for Football and Travel and is proud of his record of identifying talented recruits and mentoring them to become subject matter experts in their field. Colin has always enjoyed mentoring young people and feels he can relate to them well. His position as a senior manager brings additional skills and experience and he looking forward to working in collaboration with the Bohunt Board of Governors on the strategic and performance direction of the school.
Jack is an Assistant Director at the Home Office responsible for international operations. Jack joined the Home Office after graduating from Royal Holloway University in 2012. He has previously held a number of operational and intelligence leadership roles in the UK and overseas, and has also served as aide to a Government Minister, focusing on delivering the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. An advocate of socioeconomic diversity he is interested in strengthening the link between state education and careers in the Civil Service. Outside of work Jack lives in Binfield with his fiancée, Katie (a science teacher) and his dog, Chip.
I have been in education for the past 4 years, after studying at the University of Hertfordshire for a Sport Science degree I worked for 2 years at Lord Wandsworth College as a Post Graduate sports assistant and Deputy Houseparent of a year 7 & 8 co-Ed boarding house. After training for my PGCE at Weydon school I started at Bohunt Wokingham in July 2017. I have previously worked for a Catering company for 4 years as well as still currently coaching Waterskiing and Wakeboarding in the holidays. My interests/passions outside of work are a wide range of sports, enabling people to succeed, my family and friends as well as music.
