Industry and business are built on science, technology, engineering and mathematics – the so-called STEM subjects.
Highly skilled and innovative members of staff ensure all our students leave school fully equipped with the necessary skills to live and work in an ever-changing, fast-paced dynamic global space. STEM subjects are some of the most highly sought-after among employers and universities – and thus extremely important for us here at Bohunt School Wokingham.
STEM subjects can be challenging, but they open up huge opportunities. We aim to produce resilient, enthusiastic and confident learners who believe they can succeed.
Science is a challenging and rewarding subject that opens students’ minds and gets them to ask and discover the answer to important questions. At Bohunt School science is about investigating how things work, testing out ideas and learning from failures. At KS3 students will learn the three main disciplines of science, helping to build core foundations for GCSE and beyond. We believe that the transferable skills that science develops in our students sets them up for success in the future.
Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge, and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art.
Engineering habits of mind is embedded throughout STEM Faculty subjects. Students will be encouraged to evaluate, reflect, challenge and creatively problem solve throughout their time at Bohunt School. We have been very successful in building partnerships with engineering based organisations which has enabled us to use their expertise to help shape the engineers of the future. Engineering focused co-curricular clubs and challenges will run throughout the year, which will allow students to experience unique opportunities.
