Bohunt School Wokingham is poised for growth, with plans for a 300-place sixth form and an additional 150 places for younger students given the green light.
The new sixth form will address the current absence of such facilities in the rural south of the Wokingham borough. Presently, many students from Bohunt Wokingham must pursue their post-16 education outside the borough. This expansion will enable a larger number of them to stay closer to their homes.
Additionally, the initiative encompasses 150 extra spaces for students aged 11-16, accompanied by a commitment to enhance the school’s amenities for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The expansion project is a joint effort between Bohunt Education Trust (BET) and Wokingham Borough Council (WBC). During a meeting with the decision-making Executive at the end of September, both BET and WBC agreed to enhance their financial investment, each contributing up to £5.25 million to the shared endeavour.

“We are thrilled that BET’s collaboration with WBC will extend exceptional educational opportunities to a greater number of local students. We eagerly anticipate starting work on the new build.”

“The green light for Bohunt Wokingham Sixth Form is a magnificent milestone on our journey to provide outstanding education, unparalleled opportunities and first-class learning environments for our students.”
Cllr Prue Bray, executive member for children’s services said:
“This is excellent news for residents in the south of the Wokingham borough. Bohunt is the first new secondary school to open in the Borough for over 50 years, and will soon have a sixth form to allow more young people to stay in the borough to finish their schooling.”
