Intent

History is a fascinating subject that enables students to truly study the people and stories of the past. Our intent in History is to provide opportunities for students to explore and develop curiosity of the past to better understand today.

In History:

• Students will critically examine a variety of media to interpret and question the world around them. 
• They will formulate opinions through the analysis of differing perspectives of events. 
• In lessons we will break down stereotypes of history and look beyond the accepted narratives, to explore diverse voices of the past.
• Students will use their voice to demonstrate their skills as a critical historical thinker. 
• Students will explore causation and impacts of key historical events.
• Students will analyse the significance and importance of people and events of the past. 
• Students will be given the opportunity to explore historiography beyond the classroom through trips to historical environments, shows and museums. 

The study of history will enable students to become game changers of the future by analysing and understanding people and events of the past.
