Intent

At Bohunt School Wokingham, religious studies is taught as a discrete subject which engages students of all ages to think critically about the religious and beliefs systems which form part of society today.

We aim to:

  • Create global citizens who are able to understand, engage and be critical of the world around them.
  • Challenge students by asking questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of right and wrong, and what it means to be human.
  • Develop religious and cultural literacy.

All of which are essential for our students
becoming the gamechangers of the future.

Students will:

  • Engage in a rigorous academic study of religion and key issues in our world.
  • Explore the diversity of different faiths and beliefs including Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam and non-religious points of view such as Humanist perspectives.
  • Reflect on the importance of culture and how it influences people’s lives
  • Evaluate the “Big Issues” in our world like Prejudice and Discrimination, War and Conflict, Life and Death and Families.

Justify their opinion on moral issues, whilst having an understanding and appreciation of what others think.
