Intent

In our faculty, we embark on a journey that celebrates the transformative power of language and communication. We delve deep into the nuances of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, recognising the profound impact they have on our lives and the world around us.

With a keen analytical lens, we approach texts with reverence, understanding the significance of language structures and usage. We respect the written word as a vessel of power, capable of shaping opinions, sparking revolutions, and fostering connections. However, we also acknowledge the importance of respectfully challenging ideas presented, fostering a culture of critical thinking and intellectual discourse.

When we write, we do so with intention and purpose, understanding the weight of our words and the impact they can have. We meticulously craft our work, honing it to be the best version it can be, striving for clarity, precision, and effectiveness.

Speaking with confidence, we engage with Big Ideas, recognising that articulating our thoughts not only enhances our personal development, but also contributes to broader conversations.

As advocates for intercultural communication and global citizenship, we navigate the complexities of language and culture with empathy, tolerance, understanding and curiosity. We recognise that effective communication transcends borders and fosters connections among diverse communities.

Embracing a growth mindset, we view communication as a game-changing opportunity to empower us to navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence and resilience. We understand that communication skills are not only essential for success in education, but also invaluable for building meaningful relationships both personally and professionally.

Our curriculum is designed to cultivate a love of learning and exploration, both literal and figurative. We explore the evolution of language, investigating its etymology and morphology, and pondering its trajectory in an ever-changing world.

In essence, our vision is to empower students to become successful orators, lifelong learners, and global citizens who appreciate the power and beauty of communication in all its forms. Through our curriculum, we aim to instil in students the confidence, empathy, and cultural competence needed to thrive in an interconnected world.
